Where to Stay
The Copake Lake House is the ultimate lake house for families. There’s plenty of space to spread out and relax in nature and you are right on the lake. We spent time roasting marshmallows around a campfire, playing all of the fun board games at the house, fishing off the dock and enjoying the lake.
Copake Lake is less than 2 hours from New York City and the perfect family weekend (or longer!) getaway from NYC. The hosts also have another rental on the lake: The Lakeview Road Residence.
What to Do
Being on the lake was our favorite activity, but when we wanted to venture out….
- COOPER’S DAUGHTER – the fun cocktail barn and garden was such a neat outdoor spot for families: there were food trucks, lawn games and space to run around. Check out the site for the schedule of what’s happening.
- COPAKE LAKE BOAT & SKI – looking to rent a boat or enjoy water sports? This cool spot has it all.
- GREAT BARRINGTON, MA – visit the cute town of Great Barrington MA, only 20 min away where you’ll find excellent food, shops and the best ice cream shop and candy shop in the area: Soco Creamery & Robin’s Candy.
Where to Eat
- COPAKE GENERAL STORE – here you can grab baked goods, coffee, groceries and food to enjoy at the lake house. The kids love the store owners dog that greets you at the door!
- DAD’S DINER – we love getting breakfast out while on vacation and this diner was awesome. Super friendly staff too.
- THE GREENS– The Greens at the Copake Country Club is a great spot for dinner. You can eat outside by the fire and enjoy lake views.
