We’re always looking for the best new hotels for families, and luckily there are even more to discover this year. New resorts are being built to take family needs into account, while existing brands are becoming more aware of the needs of traveling parents, so there are thankfully now more options for families who prefer to stay in hotels over vacation homes.
While we’ll always love our spacious and welcoming vacation rentals, there’s space for a family hotel stay too – especially in cities or beach resorts where luxury hotels rule the roost. Here are some of our favorite new hotels for families, opening (or recently opened) in 2025.
1. Brach Madrid, Italy
This exciting new city hotel opened late in 2024, and boasts a family-friendly restaurant serving Meditteranean, Middle Eastern and local cuisine as well as a classic American breakfast. Connecting rooms can be booked for larger families, and some rooms can fit a crib or an extra bed. Babysitting and baby listening services are available too. Check out the indoor swimming pool and sun terrace if you need a break from all that city sightseeing.
2. Viceroy Algarve, Portugal
With 1 and 2-bedroom residences that are perfect for families, and kids clubs and activities running in school holidays, this new outpost from the famous Viceroy group is a great idea for Summer 2025. Kids will love the V Team Kids Club, a dedicated space for little ones staffed by onsite caregivers, where you can stay on site or leave them with the team to explore the wider resort in peace.
3. Efteling Grand Hotel, The Netherlands
Opening August 2025, this new hotel is in the heart of The Netherlands’ largest theme park, Efteling, one of the most magical places for families in Europe and a perfect multi-trip option for visitors traveling to Amsterdam. They already offer a range of accomodation, but this will be a new hotel for families featuring 140 luxurious family rooms and suites, 2 wonderful dining venues and an indoor pool with spa facilities.
4. Waldorf Astoria Osaka, Japan
Opening April 2025, they have 2-bedroom suites to sleep up to 6 guests, plus a pool. Set in the exclusive Umekita district, the hotel is perfect for visitors looking for business, culture or shopping in the area. Older kids will love the vibrant afternoon tea at Peacock Alley!
5. Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Costa Rica
Stay in a Treetop Family Tent (more luxurious than an actual tent) or a grander 4-bedroom villa for the whole family, both with private plunge pools and outstanding views of the tropical surroundings. Pure jungle adventures – great for older kids.
6. Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab, Dubai
Opening March 2025, this luxe resort is superyacht inspired, designed by architect Shaun Killa. The hotel offers standard rooms as well as 82 exclusive residences with 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms, all offering stunning views of the Arabian Gulf. The hotel has a family club, outdoor pool, plus a Pierre Hermé shop in the lobby for daily macarons.
7. One&Only Kea Island, Greece
Recently opened in 2024, this resort offers pool villa luxury, right next to a sandy beach. It boasts a nautical inspired kids club, outdoor sports courts, a teens club and babysitting for younger guests, just 45 minutes by speedboat from Athens.
8. Mandarin Oriental, Costa Navarino, Greece
Opened just in time for Summer 2024, this coastal resort has a creche, kids club and teens lounge, as well as a whole heap of seasonal activities for families, such as a beach bonfires and movie nights. Choose from interconnecting rooms to larger villas.
9. Dawn Ranch, California
Choose from bungalows or cottages at this redwood forest hideaway, where they have special family itineraries and kit for exploring the great outdoors.
10. Embassy Suites, Gatlinburg, Tennessee
Think spacious quadruple guest rooms ideal for traveling with kids, as well as a resort pool with a waterslide and lazy river. Perfect for visiting the Smoky Mountains or Pigeon Forge (15 minutes’ drive). Opening March 2025.
11. Trailborn Grand Canyon, Williams, Arizona
You’ll find plenty of space to relax at the outdoor pool, play area, and bocce ball and corn hole courts. Plus, complimentary bikes are available to cruise around town and they have great perks for kids: in-room camping, soft-serve ice cream, a Trailborn stuffed animal, and a s’mores kit. A perfect spot for visiting the Grand Canyon.
12. Hamilton Island, The Sundays, Whitsundays, Australia
It’s certainly a long-haul trip to the Whitsundays, the islands off the coast of Queensland, but the scenery is spectacular if you’re after a once-in-a-lifetime trip. This boutique resort opens in April 2025: older kids and parents can try snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef, while little ones can enjoy the clear waters and white sands of the best beaches you may ever see.
13. Six Senses Kyoto, Japan
Sleek, elegant and luxurious, yet welcomes kids! One of many new hotels for families from the Six Senses group, this resort is located in the Higashiyama district. It’s an urban sanctuary that offers kids arrival treats, furoshiki wrapping workshops, and a kids club where they can play, do puzzles, and learn origami. The Kyoto National Museum is within walking distance for a family history session.
